It makes it easier to remember when to pay them. The neurons of my brain (and probably yours) are excited when "Payday Friday" comes along… so why not make it fun for them, too?
You should have seen their faces when they realized that I really was going to pay them with our classroom money.
It was priceless.
They have been working so hard at their new jobs for about 2 weeks, I don't think they realized that the hard work actually pays off! You could sense such a great vibe in the room …. that it was contagious. Everyone was helping each other, giving compliments, all on their own. None of this was prompted from me.
Why did they act this way?
Well, think about it…. don't you feel a little better on your payday (whether it be every Friday, every other Friday, or whatever day you get paid)???
There's something to be said for doing something that you like to do and then to be rewarded for that (both verbally and with something monetary).
After reading them a book about proper spending…. I had my "bankers" help me deliver their money, and they are all officially now on the payroll.
Therefore, we have a first-rate workforce in our classroom, and if feels pretty neat to be their leader.
Now it's time to hire them for some more jobs!!! (The more jobs they have, the more they get paid!!!)
