I was a little nervous to run the meeting, but I think what we do in "The P.O.W.E.R.F.U.L. Program" really prepared me for the meeting (and for the upcoming season).
When I hire all of these students each year and look for their potential, it is the same way that I handle our local board.
Each one of our officials has great strengths, and each one of them has some weaknesses (just like my students).
It's my job to find out who has the strengths to put into positions on our Board that will help improve everyone as an official.
It's no small task, as now I'm working with adults, and not 2nd grade students. However, I treat them the same way as I treat my students… with respect, trust, and responsibility that they can handle.
Whatever "extra" job that you might have… remember that.
It's dealing with people and the relationships that are formed that matter.
Teaching that to students is just icing on the cake.
Don't take that responsibility lightly.
I sure don't.
