I basically spent the majority of my day filtering out the old ones that were very tattered (or just plain old), from the ones that are useful.
I can't wait to hire my "Librarians" because they do such a nice job for me putting all of the books back in the right place... and do you know how you can tell which ones are best for the job? You simply watch the first week at which students gravitate over to that area and start naturally cleaning and organizing the ones that are out of place (without you even asking).
Very excited today to know that my classroom is officially "visit ready." What I mean by that is if a parent "pops in" ... the room basically is in functioning order and I can have their child walk around and take it all in.
I purposely don't put up a lot on the walls (or if I do, it's left blank)... and that is so we can build our classroom together. My philosophy is ..."He who decorates too soon has visitors, and not active participants."
I want active participants for students, and it definitely helps them become adjusted to the classroom, because they have a say in the living space.
Off for now... hope that helps you get a sneak peak before we actually start the blog.
Aren't bonuses supposed to come afterwards? Well, I know that I'm not normal, so I guess you were able to get some of the bonuses early. Lucky for you...
Can't wait until Blog #1... the first day is always exciting (it's actually an in-service day with all of the other teachers and meetings and stuff)... I'll try to make the blog eventful... don't worry.
