Or how about going to meetings that are a waste of your time?
What about feeling under appreciated, when you give it your all ... each and every day?
Well, you're not alone out there. Many teachers that I talk to feel overwhelmed at the job they do. They've said that teaching is just not the same anymore. They say that it seems like all they do is focus on their classroom and work, and don't really have a life outside of school.
Are we on call 24 hours a day... / 7 days a week???
Sure seems like it.
I don't know about you, but I sure don't get overtime pay. (Can you imagine if we did?)
However, we still do our job.
We still come to work with a smile on our face (or try to at least).
We still grade those papers, and give those tests.
We still put out "fires" that flare up in our classroom (not the real ones... but arguments that might arise).
We still teach what needs to be taught.
Because we're professional... that's why.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You are a professional!!!
You work hard at what you do, and make sure you keep your head up, because it looks like it's going to get even harder.
Don't worry though... you have lots of people to help you through this.
The kids depend on us to show them the way.
That's what's keeping me going.
How about you? What keeps you going?
