Well, the easiest way to explain is to give an example.
When I was 17 years old, I was tagged as "The Most Promising Basketball Player" in the whole area where I grew up. What an honor to be courted by colleges from across the country for my services of playing basketball at their institution.
To be transparent, it felt really good to have this "relationship" with the colleges that were willing to have me come play at their program.
Until December 7th, 1990.
Then, it turned into a "transaction."
The reason for this, is that I tore my Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) on that fateful Friday night… and almost ALL of the colleges found out about it, and stopped contacting me by Monday.
Except for two colleges.
Two colleges known for being excellent teaching institutions.
I realized very quickly what the difference between an actual relationship was … versus what a mere transaction was … based on how all of this played out over the course of a weekend.
Therefore, it changed how I viewed these two words, and it has been the foundation of what I have created in … The P.O.W.E.R.F.U.L. Program.
